OSAP, CDC recognize U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week

Dental Team Masks

The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will celebrate U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (USAAW) November 18-24.

The purpose of USAAW is to raise awareness of the importance of appropriate antibiotic and antifungal use and the threat of antimicrobial resistance.

The CDC is asking participants to “Go Purple” to show support for improving the use of antibiotics and antifungals. To show their support, dental teams can do the following:

  • Wear purple
  • Incorporate purple into their online presence
  • Use hashtags #AntimicrobialResistance or #USAAW23
  • Encourage others to participate

A USAAW toolkit, which includes social media guides and graphics, can be downloaded from the CDC’s website.
