Week in Review: The best articles of 2020 | Interesting AI findings | One key team question

Dear DrBicuspid Member,

Yes, my friends, we finally made it to the last Saturday of 2020. I'm hoping this newsletter finds you relaxed, enjoying some holiday cheer, and preparing for what we all hope will be a better year for our industry in 2021.

While we may not want to look back too much at the year that was, I always enjoy seeing which DrBicuspid.com articles our readers enjoyed the most in the past 12 months. If you're looking for some weekend reading, I invite you to check out the top five practice management articles of the year, as well as the five most-read articles regarding dental business and industry hot topics.

One of the topics that is sure to create a buzz in 2021 is the ever-growing role that artificial intelligence (AI) will play in dentistry. In a fascinating read, the Dental AI Council, a new nonprofit dedicated to AI in our industry, has highlighted some surprising results from its first major study showing dentists don't often agree on a dental diagnosis or the cost of a resulting treatment plan.

Speaking of not agreeing, we know that even though the calendar may be turning to a new year, there will still be some age-old problems lurking in your practice. Those include team members who may not always have the same vision for their days or the goals of the business as you. In an article earlier this week, consultant Lynne Leggett highlighted one key question that every dentist should ask about these team members. I think the article is a good one to save and use in 2021 when needed.

Finally, let's look at your team members who are hygienists and what their role may entail in the dental practice of the not-too-distant future. As always, Dr. Marc Cooper stirs some thoughts and ideas when he writes, and his latest installment is sure to have you thinking about what new responsibilities hygienists (and your hygiene department) may be embracing in the days to come.

On behalf of my team, thank you for reading DrBicuspid.com in 2020. We don't take the trust you place in our work lightly, and we look forward to bringing you the latest news and information in 2021 and beyond.
