For better performance at the office, spend a day out of the office

Your team spends so many hours at your practice, just getting away to another venue can do wonders for team morale. Plan an all-day team retreat that features pleasant surroundings, good food, and fun that everyone can enjoy. Be sure to provide a mix of business and nonbusiness activities.

Do

Focus on the positive and look to the future. If there are problems at the practice, leave them there for this one day. Concentrate on promising developments, outstanding achievements, and how everyone can work together to make a brighter future.

Don

Don't take charge of the planning or the day.Step out of your role as practice leader and encourage others to make the day special. Ask others for their ideas for everything from subjects to discuss to menu items to entertainment. And if you're a firm leader, ease up. You'll enjoy the retreat more -- and your staff will love it!
