Temple Univ. dental school to open Henry Schein digital center

The Temple University Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry announced plans to open the Henry Schein Digital Center of Excellence in the next 12 months.

The new center will serve as a digital dentistry training facility and demonstrate how digital technology can lead to improved patient care and outcomes, according to Henry Schein.

The center will represent "a new private-public collaboration to advance the skills and knowledge of current and future dentists in the new and rapidly emerging era of digital dentistry," stated Kornberg School of Dentistry Dean Amid Ismail, BDS, DrPH, in a press release. "Starting this fall, the predoctoral and postdoctoral clinics at the dental school will be offered a digital dentistry alternative to traditional restorative care."

The center will be equipped with the latest digital technology, including CAD/CAM solutions, digital radiography, intraoral cameras, and practice management software.

"Nothing is more impressive in our profession than the continuing acceleration of oral health technology," stated Stanley Bergman, Henry Schein chairman of the board and CEO, in the release. "Our support for the creation of the [center] underscores our commitment to be a reliable source of the latest digital dental equipment and technology for students and practitioners. This center will serve the ultimate purpose of helping practitioners operate successful practices and improve patient care."
