PepsiCo to cut sugar in most drinks by 2025

PepsiCo intends to cut the amount of added sugar in the majority of its drinks by 2025, according to the company's updated Performance with Purpose plan announced on October 17.

PepsiCo's plan focuses on three priorities: improving the health and well-being of people through the products it sells, reducing the company's environmental footprint, and empowering people and social development.

To meet its health and well-being goal, PepsiCo will ensure at least two-thirds of the beverages it sells will have no more than 100 calories from added sugars per 12-ounce serving. It also plans to do the following:

  • Limit the amount of saturated fat and sodium in its food portfolio.
  • Have the sales growth rate for its Everyday Nutrition products outpace the sales growth rate for its PepsiCo portfolio.
  • Provide underserved communities access to 3 billion servings of nutritious foods and beverages.
