A: 3M ESPE launched a new intraoral impression scanner, the True Definition, that uses 3D-in-motion video technology with a smaller scanning camera. You can share your data using open STL files. Plus, at $11,995, it has a much lower price than the Lava C.O.S. device.

Dexis released the latest version of its Imaging Suite. This upgraded release brings new software architecture and features, including a cosmetic imaging module, expanded video capabilities, an enhanced implant planning module, and integration with select 3D products. Dexis Imaging Suite now also integrates 3D scanners from i-CAT, Gendex, Instrumentarium, and Soredex, allowing users to manage patient data and 3D images directly from within the Dexis application. The most exciting development is the new integration with the iPad. Beginning in January 2013 with the launch of a free app from the Apple App Store, you can use the iPad to replace your computer to handle your imaging needs.

Finally, Slip-N-Click from Dr. Fresh is an exciting new toothbrush option. Yes, an exciting toothbrush that you can customize for each patient. A label can be custom printed with office information, a child's photo, or a favorite cartoon character. You then slip the label into place and it clicks in to seal the label in the brush. Look for the launch of this product at the Chicago Mid-Winter meeting. I have some of these brushes, which will be reasonably priced, according to the company.
