Birner revenues up but income down in Q2

Birner Dental Management Services has reported an increase in revenue but a decrease in net income for the second quarter of 2014, and plans to open additional dental offices in the coming year.

For the quarter (end-June 30), the operators of Perfect Teeth dental practices reported revenue increased 2.7% to $16.9 million, compared with $16.4 million in the same period a year ago. Net income decreased 133% to $-59,000, compared with $180,000 for the second quarter of 2013.

For the first six months of 2014, revenue increased 1.9% to $33.7 million, compared with $33.0 million for the same period a year ago. Net income for the six months decreased 102.4% to $-10,000, compared with $421,000 for the same period in 2013.

Birner opened practices in Loveland, CO, in July 2013; Monument, CO, in December 2013; and Fort Collins, CO, in May 2014. The company has also leased space for four additional offices in Scottsdale, AZ, which is anticipated to open in the third quarter of 2014, and Albuquerque, NM; Westminster, CO; and Commerce City, CO, which are anticipated to open in 2015.
