Animation, Rich Media and Expandability

Animation
With the exception of inline banners, we accept animated banners in a variety of placements. For banners that run on our site, we will accept animated GIFs or HTML/Javascript. For banners used in our broadcasts, we will accept animated GIFs only, with your understanding that Outlook users will see only the first frame. The general rule is animation must stop in 15 seconds or less and cannot include audio. If the user clicks on the ad, the animation limit of 15 seconds no longer applies and audio is also allowed.

Rich Media
Rich media ads allow the advertiser to create engaging and useful messages, which can include audio (restrictions apply), video, data collection, or external content. These ads go beyond a standard display graphic, and enable the user to expand the canvas to learn more about your product or service.

  • Initial animation must stop in 15 seconds or less and cannot include audio.
  • The onmouseover event can restart animation or initiate some form of user interaction.
  • The onmouseover event is not permitted to fold out, or have video or audio.
  • Clicking the ad can begin user interactivity as determined by the sponsor, including video and audio. In this case the animation limit of 15 seconds no longer applies.
  • For the half-page banner ad, clicking the ad can invoke a fold-out window. The fold-out window can include additional information, a video segment, or data collection. In this case the animation limit of 15 seconds no longer applies. Learn more about this expandability feature below.

Expandability
In addition to the interactivity of rich media ads, we offer an expandable format for the half-page banner position, as well as the mobile-friendly half-page narrow banner position at the bottom of the page. You supply the materials listed, and we will take care of setting it up for you.
