J. Morita releases Root ZX mini apex locator
By DrBicuspid Staff

September 30, 2011 -- J. Morita has released a compact apex locator, the Root ZX mini, the company announced.

The Root ZX mini measures just over 4 x 2⅓ inches. Its compact and lightweight design makes it portable; it can easily be moved to work in any quadrant of the mouth, and it takes up very little counter storage space, according to the company. Like the original model, Root ZX mini utilizes the ratio technique for precise length measurement.

For enhanced safety, the Root ZX mini offers programmable memory settings that allow the practitioner to mark important points in the canal to register on the display. The "flash" bar is set in the region of the apex and acts as a reference point for measuring or enlarging the canal. The "memory" bar marks points such as the start of a sharp bend or a point where a file size change is needed.

The LCD display screen has excellent readability with a clear, progressive display, and high contrast, J. Morita noted.

Other Root ZX mini features include the ability to work in wet canals, shock resistance, automatic calibration, and power off function.
