Texas dental board gets new chief officer

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has appointed William Purifoy, D.D.S., of Fort Worth to be the new presiding officer of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.

"I take it as a serious responsibility to serve the citizens of Texas and the profession of dentistry," Dr. Purifoy said in a statement.

Dr. Purifoy, a periodontist, has served on the board since December 2005, according to a news release.
