United Concordia provided 10,000+ with free care in 2011

United Concordia provided more than 10,000 children and adults who had minimal or no insurance with $2 million in free dental care in 2011.

Many of these individuals live in urban, underserved areas and lack the resources necessary to receive routine dental care, noted James Bramson, DDS, chief dental officer with United Concordia, in a press release.

Since 2002, United Concordia has worked with a variety of community partners each year -- including dentists, dental clinics, community organizations, and dental hygiene schools -- to bring free dental services to people in need. The services range from cleanings and fillings to x-rays and sealants.

In 2011, the national dental insurer held 132 free days of care by partnering with a number of organizations, including parent company Highmark; sister subsidiary Davis Vision; Hamilton Health Center; the city of Houston; Dentistry from the Heart; and the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania.
