Md. oral health campaign targets moms, young kids

The Maryland Dental Action Coalition, supported by a strategic alliance with the Maryland Office of Oral Health, has launched the "Healthy Teeth, Healthy Kids" campaign, designed to reach pregnant women and children from birth to 6 years old.

"Healthy Teeth, Healthy Kids" will offer a comprehensive literacy campaign utilizing outreach through community organizations, such as federally qualified health centers; local health departments; Women, Infants and Children programs; Head Start; and television, radio, online, and public-transit ads.

The campaign website provides information and tips to drive awareness for critical stages of pediatric oral healthcare. In addition, a free hotline (1-855-45-TEETH), available in English and Spanish, will give residents access to a person who can answer oral health questions or help them find a dentist.

The program's educational brochures will also be available at community centers and healthcare facilities around the state.
