Calif. dentist arrested in FBI corruption, gunrunning sting

A San Francisco Bay Area dentist was charged with conspiracy to deal firearms in a FBI corruption and gunrunning sting that has ensnared a California state senator.

Daly City dentist Wilson Lim, DDS, 60, was among those arrested March 26 during a series of raids in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area that also included state Sen. Leland Yee, alleged San Francisco Chinatown mobster Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow, and 24 others connected to Chow, according to a mercurynews.com story.

Dr. Lim, a friend of Yee, allegedly moonlighted as an international arms dealer and was the man the senator allegedly said could procure weapons for an undercover agent, according to the story. Dr. Lim has also been charged with conspiracy to deal firearms without a license and to illegally import firearms.

Yee is accused of accepting money and campaign donations in exchange for providing official favors and helping broker an arms deal. He has been charged with depriving the public of honest services and conspiracy to traffic in guns without a license.

Dr. Lim has had financial problems recently, the story stated. He suffered a heart attack in 2011, which prevented him from making mortgage payments on his home, according to a lawsuit. Dr. Lim filed for bankruptcy in 2012, according to the story.
