IADR announces new Global Oral Health Research Award

The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced the 17th award in its Distinguished Scientist Award program: the Global Oral Health Research Award.

Supported by Church & Dwight, this new award honors IADR and American Association for Dental Research (AADR) Past President John Greenspan, BDS, PhD, of the University of California, San Francisco.

"This new award further allows IADR and the IADR-Global Oral Health Inequalities Research Agenda to work toward reducing global oral health inequalities, and IADR's overarching mission of advancing research and increasing knowledge for the improvement of oral health worldwide," said IADR President Yoshimitsu Abiko, DDS, in a press release.

The Global Oral Health Research Award recognizes scientists who have made outstanding significant scientific contribution, including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Research that addresses inequalities in global oral health
  • Research on social determinants of global oral health
  • Research on comparative health systems (two or more countries) in maintaining and improving oral health
  • Research that is common to all oral diseases, rather than focusing on one disease
  • Research that serves to reduce existing global oral health inequalities
  • Translational, transformational, and transdisciplinary research on global oral health
  • Dissemination and implementation research targeted to global oral health

The nomination deadline for the Global Oral Health Research Award is November 10, 2014. Only IADR members may nominate and be nominated for this award. For complete criteria and eligibility requirements, visit the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award website at www.iadr.org/dsa.
