NCOHF announces Hispanic youth leadership scholarships

National Children's Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF): America's ToothFairy has launched an oral health leadership scholarship program in partnership with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

To mobilize Hispanic youth to tackle dental challenges, literacy, and education in their local communities, NCOHF will award eight $1,000 scholarships to those who best demonstrate an ability to engage others and increase awareness, while making a quantifiable impact on an aspect of children's oral health, the group said.

Projects that are interprofessional in nature, that address large systems such as community water fluoridation, or are uniquely creative will receive greater consideration.

Youth from 10 areas across the U.S. are eligible to apply:

  • Albuquerque, NM
  • Fort Worth, TX
  • Austin, TX
  • Dallas, TX
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Houston, TX
  • Mid-Atlantic area (Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, Pennsylvania)
  • Orange County, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Charlotte, NC

Youth must complete a leadership community project related to oral health by May 31, 2015, and have the endorsement of their local Hispanic chamber of commerce. Applications are available by emailing [email protected] and are due by February 23, 2015.
