Elsevier launches new open-access surgical journal

Elsevier has launched the new Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Cases, an open-access journal.

The journal will publish case reports and case series and also examine the outcomes of management in more than one patient. Cases may include new or modified methodology and treatment, uncommon findings, and mechanisms in oral and maxillofacial surgery cases, according to Elsevier.

Editor-in-Chief Janice Lee, DDS, MD, deputy clinical director of the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research at the National Institutes of Health, stated, "I am pleased to work with Elsevier and the editorial board to provide this new resource to authors. We hope that this open-access forum will offer stimulating, relevant, concise, and hypothesis-generating case reports and series."
