Abstract:

 

Patients who suffer a stroke often face many obstacles in their quest to regain their previous quality of life.  Once the initial challenge to simply survive has been met, they will hopefully be back to their homes and to their dental practices.  Learn of the often significant oral health challenges that may lie ahead for these patients and the wonderful rewards we can achieve assisting them in their care.  This course will present many of the oral complications that result from a stroke and review the modifications in dental treatment protocols and oral hygiene adaptations that are indicated for these patients.
