New app encourages orthodontic compliance

An app for iPhones and iPads to help younger orthodontic patients with their braces treatment, Snap Smile Share, is now available from the iTunes App Store.

The app was developed by Steve Schau, CEO of Fast Digital Signs, the creator of @Braces, a social media community of orthodontic patients on Instagram, according to the company.

The app aims to improve treatment compliance and "enhance the orthodontic experience of young patients with braces." The app has three features:

  • It turns the patient's phone into a time-lapse video tool that creates a short video of the patient's teeth straightening and their smile improving.
  • It offers patients with traditional braces a chance to "try on" different popular elastic colors.
  • It sends daily text notifications to the user's phone to remind the patient to change aligners or replace elastics and wear their retainers.

The app is available at no cost. For more information, visit the company's website.
