Delta Dental of RI donates $1M for oral healthcare

Delta Dental of Rhode Island announced a series of major gifts in October of more than $1 million to support programs, clinics, and professionals working to provide critical oral healthcare to those most in need.

The grants included the following:

  • $350,000 to the Samuels Sinclair Dental Center at Rhode Island Hospital
  • $350,000 to Blackstone Valley Community Health Care
  • $350,000 to Providence Community Health Centers
  • $15,000 to the Scituate Health Alliance
  • $12,000 to support the Thundermist Dental Tent at Operation Stand Down weekend

"Through our ongoing conversations with our community partners, we know that access and affordability continue to be true barriers to oral healthcare for far too many Rhode Islanders," stated Joe Nagle, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Rhode Island, in a press release. "These grants will help eliminate those barriers and ensure that our community partners can connect more of our state's most vulnerable citizens with the quality oral healthcare they deserve."

The grants, made through the Delta Dental of Rhode Island Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation, marked the single largest infusion of funds to support access to affordable dental services among Rhode Island's safety net populations.
