U.S. bill would provide $20M in dental care for underserved

The Action for Dental Health Act of 2014 was introduced in Congress on April 3 and would improve essential oral healthcare for lower-income people by breaking down barriers to care, according to an ADA News story.

The bill by Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL), H.R. 4395, would provide a $10 million annual grant program for free dental services for underserved populations that would be offered by dental societies and others at state and local levels. The bill was introduced by Kelly to the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee.

The measure would also provide an additional $10 million to implement initiatives that reduce barriers to care.
