Cerec 30: Highlights from Las Vegas

About 6,000 dental professionals attended Sirona Dental's Cerec 30th anniversary event (Cerec 30), held September 17 to 19 in Las Vegas. Along with presentations from company executives, clinical lectures, and celebrities, the Nasdaq closing bell was rung and the company released new products.

Treatment center debut -- Two new Sirona treatment centers made their U.S. debut at Cerec 30: the high-end Teneo and entry-level Intego. Both centers are ergonomically designed with a digital practice in mind.

Dentsply Sirona -- The event took place just after the announcement of the Dentsply International and Sirona Dental merger to form Dentsply Sirona. Dentsply Chairman and CEO Brett Wise spoke briefly to the audience.

“We see the future, we embrace the future,” he said. “And together with our 15,000 employees ... they'll be there, first, to innovate, and then to serve the dental professional.”

Nasdaq closing bell -- Organizational leaders from multiple companies took to the stage for the Nasdaq closing bell on September 17. The closing bell ceremony was broadcast live on national television.

Dr. Frank Spear -- Among the presenters at the event was Frank Spear, DDS, MSD, who emphasized the need to treat patients over their longer life span. Dr. Spear praised the effects of new technologies, but also cautioned dentists from making too hasty of a treatment decision for unexpected radiographic findings.
