Advantage Technologies, a managed IT service provider for the dental industry, is now offering its CloudPlus service to customers.
The hybrid service enables dental practices to utilize the cloud for data storage but also keep a copy of their patient data in the office should their Internet connection fail. Data are copied to the cloud and stored in a HIPAA-compliant data center. Should the Internet connection fail, the system automatically pushes the data to the cloud on the next scheduled interval once the connection becomes available.
CloudPlus provides access to all practice information from any PC, Mac, or tablet device with high-speed Internet access. The connection is automatic, fully encrypted, HIPAA-compliant, and requires no virtual private network or special setup.
The service eliminates the need to purchase or manage servers for practice management, imaging, and other business applications. A local appliance, which is provided at no additional cost and is about the size of a home digital video recorder, is installed in the practice and comes with all mounting hardware, battery backup, and a self-contained backup unit.
