Dental Health & Wellness to administer dental benefits for Fla. Medicaid

Sunshine Health, a wholly owned subsidiary of Centene, announced that Dental Health & Wellness is Sunshine's new dental benefits manager, effective January 1. Dental Health & Wellness, one of Centene's specialized health solutions companies, is partnering with Sunshine Health to administer dental benefits for more than 410,000 Medicaid members in Florida.

"At Sunshine Health we believe in a holistic approach to healthcare, as we know quality dental care is beneficial to a person's overall health," stated Chris Paterson, CEO, Sunshine Health, in a press release. "It is important to us to ensure that our members receive preventative dental services in conjunction with their routine physical exams."

"Preventative routine dental care is critical to maintaining a person's overall health," stated Scott Laihinen, plan president and CEO of Dental Health & Wellness, in the release. "Through our partnership with Sunshine Health, we demonstrate our commitment to providing Medicaid recipients with access to quality dental services, especially children."

Members whose current dental providers are not participating in the Dental Health & Wellness network may continue seeing their provider without disruption throughout the 90-day continuity of care period. Providers interested in joining the Dental Health & Wellness network can sign up here by entering code FL.
