All Anthem product lines hacked, including dental insurance

Health insurance provider Anthem was hacked on February 4. All of its product lines, including dental insurance, were compromised in the attack, affecting millions of customers.

Hackers gained access to sensitive information, including Social Security numbers, birthdates, and addresses, of current and former Anthem members and employees. As of now, the insurance provider does not believe that diagnosis, treatment, or credit card information was compromised, according to a statement on www.AnthemFacts.com.

Anthem and its affiliates, which provide insurance to 1 in 9 Americans, do not know how many of their current and former members were affected by the breach. They plan to mail letters to those whose information have been compromised and will offer free identity theft and credit monitoring to the affected.

The insurance provider is currently working with federal investigators to find the hacker or organization responsible.
