ADEA launches website for prospective students

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) launched its new GoDental website.

The site is intended to provide students considering a career in dentistry or dental hygiene the information and guidance they need to apply to programs, matriculate, and eventually fulfill their career goals, according to the association. It also has dedicated resources for health professions advisors.

"The website is part of ADEA's larger strategic initiative to reach students from a variety of backgrounds and cultivate the dental and dental hygiene workforce to meet the evolving oral health needs of a diverse society," stated ADEA Board Chair Lily T. Garcia, DDS, in a press release.

As part of its mission to "Inspire, Inform and Guide," the site will feature blog posts by current students, dentists, admissions officers, and other mentors; inform students about the practice options and specialties available in dentistry and dental hygiene; and guide students through the application process to help them prepare both academically and financially.

Students and advisors can access the website's new interactive map highlighting all U.S. public and private dental schools, an overview of the history of dentistry, reasons to pursue a career as a dentist or dental hygienist, and financial planning resources such as the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)/ADEA dental loan organizer and calculator.
