A YouGov survey conducted this month found that 8 in 10 voters support adding dental coverage to Medicare, according to a statement released by the CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, Families USA, and the Oral Health Progress and Equity Network.

Additionally, 9 out of 10 respondents believe dental care is a vital part of overall healthcare, and more than half said their members of Congress are responsible for the current lack of coverage, the three organizations noted. The survey also found that 52% of respondents age 65 and older reported skipping dental visits because of the associated costs.

Adding dental coverage to Medicare has been proposed in the $3.5 trillion budget plan introduced in the Senate earlier this month. The survey was conducted July 6 through 13 and included 1,000 likely 2022 midterm voters across the U.S.
