With the dawning of a new year (and a new decade), dental practices will soon be seeing changes with dental insurance and their accompanying codes.

According to dental insurance expert Teresa Duncan of Odyssey Management, 37 new codes will be introduced to dental practices in 2020. These insurance code changes/additions will include salivary flow management and tweaks to codes pertaining to implants and restorative procedures. Codes for managing special needs patients will also be a part of the changes dental practices will see in 2020.

There is a lot to take in, and that's why we asked Duncan to be a part of our latest podcast so she can give a sneak peek into what is coming and what dental practices need to know. A little bit of learning now can help prepare you for what is to come in the new year.

What is one of the key takeaways from Duncan on the podcast? "Just because we have a code doesn't mean it is going to be covered," she reminds listeners.

To further help dental professionals, Duncan will lead her annual dental coding update (through NEA Powered by Vyne) on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at noon Eastern/9 a.m. Pacific. The webinar is one hour and qualifies for continuing education (CE). Register now for the free webinar.
