Editor's note: This is another installment in a yearlong series that is designed to help dentists and team members understand their practice management software better.

Today, we are providing you with another tip from Dayna Johnson, a certified Dentrix trainer and founder of Novonee.com. If you have a Dentrix question you would like Dayna to answer for an upcoming column, you can email her at [email protected].

Q: My treatment plan estimates for patients never print out the same. How can I duplicate the settings from my workstation to all the other workstations so we have consistency?

A: That's a great question. There are many things in Dentrix that you can template -- and the treatment plan printout is one of them. When you click on the Print Treatment Case, you will open a window with lots of options on how you would like your printout to look.

Once you have it the way you want it, click on the button in the lower left corner to Save Options. My recommendation is to have a print style for cash patients, insurance patients, and preferred provider organization (PPO) patients.

For example, your cash patients don't need to have the insurance columns or insurance boxes on the print estimate. You can save multiple print styles, depending on your preferences. Then you can select which print style you want from the drop-down menu in the upper left corner. This allows you to create consistency across all workstations.
