January 6, 2017 -- Where does being a dentist rank among the best jobs in the U.S.? It ranks 44th, according to a new report from CNNMoney/PayScale.com. No other oral healthcare positions made the 2016 list of top 100 jobs.

Dentist is the highest-rated patient-care profession, coming in just ahead of radiologist. However, the average annual salary for radiologists was reported as $316,000, compared with $151,000 for dentists. The highest average salary on the chart of top 100 jobs is for anesthesiologists at $335,000.

In the 2015 report, dentist came in at No. 13, while it was not included in the 2013 report.

The top two jobs were mobile applications developer and risk management director. The highest ranked healthcare-related positions were quality assurance coordinator (registered nurse) at No. 6 and hospital administrator at No. 8.

The list was created using a survey of 450,000 workers on quality-of-life factors and median pay for experienced workers. The report authors also considered how much education was needed to enter the field, promotion opportunities, job stress and meaningfulness, and opportunity to telecommute.
