The Egret device looks similar to a water pitcher and kills harmful microorganisms on surfaces and in the air, according to the company. It creates hypochlorous acid, which can serve as an alternative to chlorine for disinfection.
To use Egret, consumers add tap water and a tablespoon of salt to the pitcher. The device, which has more than 30 patents, then utilizes a charged reaction to create EO/HOCl water in 30 seconds.
The company said the solution is nontoxic and can be used on almost anything, including toothbrush holders and keyboard crevices. The device is also wireless for portable indoor and outdoor use, and the solution can be transferred to other pitchers and bottles.
