March 2, 2018 -- Uber has launched Uber Health, a new service that allows healthcare companies to schedule rides for patients, caregivers, and staff.

With the Uber Health dashboard, healthcare professionals can schedule and pay for Uber rides for patients to and from clinics or other healthcare facilities. Rides can be requested immediately and on the same day, as well as up to 30 days in advance. Ride scheduling, appointment, and billing statements are all saved in the dashboard.

The service is HIPAA-compliant, according to Uber. Patients coordinate with their Uber drivers through text message, so they don't need a smartphone or the Uber app. Uber Health is also working on a feature to call riders with their trip details.
