July 16, 2021 -- Dr. Herbert Yee, a dental education leader, died on June 26 at the age of 96, according to an article from ADA News.

Born in the Guangdong province of China in 1924, Yee immigrated to the U.S. at the age of six, settling in Sacramento with his family. He earned an undergraduate degree at Stanford before enrolling in the University of the Pacific, from which he graduated in 1948 with his dental degree.

Throughout his career, Yee served in many capacities, from offering expertise to the ADA's Council on Dental Education and serving on his alma mater's board of regents to serving as president of both the California State Board of Dental Examiners and the International College of Dentists.

Yee was a staff dentist for California Govs. Pat Brown and Ronald Reagan. In 2018, he was honored by the California Dental Association Foundation with a humanitarian award, the ADA said.
