15 Minutes to Excellence: What's next in dental CAD/CAM?

September 13, 2013 -- The market for digital impressioning in dentistry is growing and adoption is on the rise, thanks in large part to recent equipment and materials advances, according to Robert Gottlander, DDS, vice president of global prosthetic solutions for Henry Schein.

Gottlander shared his thoughts on the status of the worldwide digital impressioning market in this "15 Minutes to Excellence" video chat with DrBicuspid.com.

"All the factors are coming together," he said. "The technology has been around a long time -- it's been available for 20 years -- but we were not able to use it the way we are today. And you can't forget the new materials -- I think that is what is really driving this, together with the new technology."

Pricing has an impact as well, he added, noting that the price will come down over time.

"But the real difference is dentists are realizing they can use the technology for the benefit of their practice, their patients, and the dental labs," he said.
