February 6, 2020 -- A former Missouri dental clinic owner was sentenced to prison for his role in a fraud scheme with his co-owner wife involving their clinics. She has already been sentenced to prison for multiple fraud schemes totaling more than $1 million in Medicaid payments, failing to pay payroll taxes, and collecting ineligible unemployment benefits.

Lorin Van Drie, of Marshfield, MO, was sentenced to two years and eight months in federal prison without parole for failing to pay payroll taxes and collecting unemployment benefits for which he was ineligible, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Missouri. He was also ordered to pay restitution for an amount that will be determined at a later date.

His wife, Pamela Van Drie, was previously charged and found guilty of conspiring to commit healthcare fraud from October 2010 to August 2015. In October 2019, she was sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison without parole and ordered to pay $1.1 million in restitution.

The couple was convicted in February 2019 on all 40 counts contained in a federal indictment. Lorin Van Drie was found guilty of stealing public money, participating in a conspiracy to defraud the government, and 18 counts of failing to pay over employment taxes.

The Van Dries owned All About Smiles, a company that provided dental services at three Missouri locations: Springfield, Mountain Grove, and Bolivar. In addition, they also owned PL Family Management Company, which managed staff for those clinics. The facilities closed in 2014 and 2015.
