Carestream Dental has unveiled Evo editions of its CS 8100 and CS 8100 3D imaging systems.

The Evo editions are compact panoramic and cone-beam CT (CBCT) versions of the CS 8100 and CS 8100 3D systems used by both general practitioners and specialists, according to the vendor.

They also include software updates such as its Tomosharp image enhancement technology, which improves image quality and provides greater tolerance for imperfect positioning, the company said. After the entire jaw anatomy is captured in a single acquisition, the software's algorithms analyze the area where the anatomy is the sharpest and automatically reconstruct the best possible panoramic image, according to Carestream.

Other features include a new processing engine for panoramic and cephalometric images on Carestream's CS Adapt Anatomic family of filters. In addition, the CS 8100 3D Evo edition adds the firm's advanced noise reduction (ANR) technique and its CS MAR software for metal artifact reduction (MAR) and reducing starburst effects. Carestream said that ANR is ideal for 75-µm resolution scans, as it improves small details such as a lateral canal or crack, as well as the perception of cortical bone edge, ligament space, and soft tissues.

What's more, all of the new Evo systems are supported by Carestream's CS Imaging version 8 imaging platform, according to the firm.
