4 dentists elected to U.S. Congress

Four ADA member dentists were elected or re-elected to the U.S. House of Representatives on November 8.

Drew Ferguson, DMD (R-GA), will represent Georgia's 3rd District in his first term in Congress. Dr. Ferguson is a general dentist in West Point, GA, and previously served as mayor of West Point.

Reps. Mike Simpson, DMD (R-ID); Paul Gosar, DDS (R-AZ); and Brian Babin, DDS (R-TX), all won their re-election campaigns.

Dr. Simpson, who is chair of the House subcommittee on energy and water development, will represent Idaho's 2nd District in his 10th term. Dr. Gosar, who is vice chair of the House subcommittee on natural resources water, power, and oceans and the Congressional Western Caucus, will represent Arizona's 4th District in his fourth term. And Dr. Babin, who is chair of the House subcommittee on space, will represent Texas' 36th District.

All four candidates were supported by the American Dental Political Action Committee, which spent almost $2 million in support of the candidates for federal office.
