The ADA has called on dental practices to continue to postpone elective procedures until at least April 30 in the wake of the growing COVID-19 pandemic.

It is urging practices to remain focused on urgent, emergency procedures. This new guidance comes as its initial call to close through April 6 ends.

The ADA said it believes individual dentists should exercise professional judgment and carefully consider the risks outlined in its interim guidance. Dentists should weigh those risks against any possible benefit to the patient, the practice employees, the community at large, and the practitioner.
