Dental artificial intelligence (AI) technology developer Overjet has purchased dental claims review provider American Dental Examiners (ADE).

As a result, dental payers will be able to utilize Overjet's dental AI software for claim review selection and payment integrity along with ADE's network of licensed dental claim reviewers, according to Overjet. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Founded three years ago on technology developed by dental researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, Overjet emerged from stealth mode in 2020 with the launch of its dental AI software, according to the company. It has also received financing from venture capital firms such as Crosslink Capital and the MIT-affiliated E14 Fund.

In addition, Overjet garnered U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance in May for Dental Assist, an AI application that supports dental professionals in measuring mesial and distal bone levels in bitewing and periapical radiographs.
