3D imaging firm Anatomage has spun off its 3D dental technology business into a wholly owned subsidiary called Osteoid.

Osteoid will handle all of the company's 3D dentistry offerings, including its Invivo 3D dental imaging portfolio, Invivo Workspace cloud-based platform, and precision surgical-guide fabrication technologies. With the spinoff complete, Anatomage will now focus on its medical and educational products.

Anatomage has named Calvin Hur as the CEO of Osteoid. A 20-year veteran of the 3D design and printing industry, Hur will oversee Osteoid's strategic direction and product road map, according to the firm. Also, Anatomage founder and CEO Jack Choi will serve as an adviser to Osteoid.

With financial backing from Anatomage, Osteoid will invest in research and development and commercialization initiatives for visualizing anatomy in implant planning, orthodontic, endodontic, and prosthodontic applications, according to the firm. These products will be developed in collaboration with strategic partners, Osteoid said.

New developments already in the works include the Invivo6 Plus for 3D Design software, added features for Invivo Workspace, and new capabilities for the production of precision surgical guides, according to the company.
