Novel urethane-based materials can provide resins suited to inkjet 3D printing while exceeding standards, according to research presented March 24 at the American Association of Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) annual meeting.

The meeting is being held in conjunction with the 46th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research.

Kyle Sorenson from the University of Colorado presented the research, which used novel monourethane dimethacrylate monomers to form with methacrylic acid. Preliminary inkjet trials were successful in attaining high resolution and structurally complex parts in tooth models.
