Univ. of Pittsburgh offers oral biology program

The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine has established new doctoral and master's programs in oral biology that will be available in the fall of 2012.

Concentrations for both graduate degree programs will focus around two faculty strengths: craniofacial and dental genetics and craniofacial tissue engineering. These programs will cover a wide range of topics at the molecular, cellular, organismic, and clinical levels.

The doctoral and master's programs require the completion of one of the areas of concentration, but the master's program is intended to be distinct from the doctoral program, according to the school. A student may complete both degrees.

Admissions will be considered only for the fall 2012 term. However, early applications are encouraged and offers may be extended to suitably qualified candidates before the application deadline.

Interested students should apply by submitting their application materials electronically to the ApplyYourself online application system by January 15, 2012. Three to six students will be accepted in both the master's and doctoral programs each year.
