More women than men becoming dental specialists

There are now more women than men in the U.S. who are oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, and prosthodontists, a new survey shows.

The CareerBuilder/Economic Modeling Specialists survey revealed that four of the 15 top-paying jobs in the U.S. are now dominated by women, according to story by United Press International.

Women comprise some 57% of the oral and maxillofacial surgeons, 62% of the prosthodontists, and 57% of the orthodontists, the survey found. In addition, nearly half of all U.S. dentists (49%) are women.

The survey, conducted in March by Harris Interactive, included interviews with 1,746 men and 1,475 women.
