Vertex-Dental offers 3D printing materials for long-term use

Vertex-Dental has introduced its new NextDent 3D line of printing materials, which make it possible to use 3D printed materials for long-term applications.

The NextDent materials have a class IIa certification under Europe's 93/42/EC Medical Device Directive, which means they can be used for multiple long-term applications, including splints, denture bases, crowns, and bridges, according to the company.

With the NextDent Ortho Rigid material, splints can now be produced that can be used in a patient's mouth long term, while the NextDent Base material was developed for the 3D printing of denture bases. The NextDent C&B material is used for the production of crowns and up to three-unit bridges for midterm solutions, according to Vertex-Dental.

The company noted that all the materials are compatible with 3D printers using digital light processing (DLP)/stereolithogrpahy (SLA) technology with a wavelength range of 365 nm to 405 nm.
