Dr. Lawrence Rudolph, a dentist who once ran a respected dental chain in Pittsburgh, PA, was charged with homicide and insurance fraud in January 2022. NBC is promising new details and interviews in a December 2 episode of "Dateline" that focuses on the 2016 death of Rudolph's wife.

Bianca Rudolph suffered a fatal gunshot wound in the couple's cabin during a hunting trip in Zambia. Lawrence Rudolph claimed to be in another room at the time of the shooting and theorized the shooting was accidental or that Bianca had committed suicide.

Reporter Andrea Canning will recap the six-year murder investigation that followed Bianca's death. The broadcast will feature new details, including jail phone recordings, an interview with the manager of the cabin where the crime occurred, and several employee interviews from Lawrence Rudolph's former practice.

Lawrence Rudolph has maintained his innocence. Prosecutors alleged that he killed Bianca to collect $4.8 million in insurance money and to be with his girlfriend, who was also the office manager.

In August, a jury found Rudolph guilty of one count of murder of a U.S. national in a foreign country and one count of mail fraud, according to news reports. Lawrence Rudolph will be sentenced in February. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
