ADA Foundation names leadership award winners

The ADA Foundation has named the winners of the 2016 Dr. David Whiston Leadership Awards.

Nathan Suter, DDS, and dental student Dhwani Joshi are this year's recipients of the awards. Dr. Suter is the oral health director of a federally qualified health center in Arnold, MO. In the role, he has implemented permanent school-based dental clinics and written grants that yielded more than $1.5 million in funding.

Joshi is a fourth-year dental student at the A.T. Still University Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health. She has served as president of the school's chapter of the American Student Dental Association.

The awards were established in 2014 to honor Dr. Whiston, who served as ADA president and on the ADA Foundation Board of Directors, and to recognize dentists who have shown the potential for leadership to improve public oral health. The awards annually provide two $5,000 prizes, one for a professional and one for a student, to cover the costs of attending a leadership training program by the American Management Association.
