Ill. budget impasse stops dental claims processing

Delta Dental of Illinois announced that the state of Illinois has stopped funding dental claims for the Quality Care Dental Plan (QCDP).

The state has directed Delta Dental to hold all claims payments for the plan, and, as of September 7, "any claims not yet paid and any new claims incurred for the state of Illinois QCDP will be held for processing and payment," according to a Delta Dental statement.

The plan, Group #20240, is the largest dental plan for state employees, according Delta Dental. The plan remains active, and claims "will be paid according to a set release schedule once the state budget for fiscal year 2016 (FY 2016) has been approved -- just as they have always been," noted the company, adding that late payment interest will be paid.

That state's budget has not been approved, and the impasse is in its fourth month, according to numerous reports.
