Sybron unveils hands-on CE center in Calif.

Sybron Dental Specialties has opened the Sybron Learning Center (SLC), a state-of-the-art continuing education (CE) center designed to provide dental professionals the opportunity to demonstrate and learn cutting-edge best practices, the company announced.

The 15,000-sq-ft facility, adjacent to the Disneyland Resort Theme Parks in Anaheim, CA, is equipped with the latest laboratory and multimedia technologies, including full film and broadcast capability, a primary surgery suite, a 200-seat auditorium, a 50-person bench laboratory with adjoining observation room, four fully functional operatories, and an x-ray room equipped with 3D panoramic, pan/ceph, and intraoral x-ray imaging.

The SLC will offer multidisciplinary, cross-functional programs encompassing a broad range of topics and the latest trends in dentistry, including implants, endodontics, restorative dentistry, general dentistry, and orthodontics. This high-tech facility enables Sybron to offer continuing education in a wide variety of formats, including lectures, video presentations, computer-assisted self-learning, hands-on demonstrations, and live patient procedures.

"At Sybron Dental Specialties, we understand the importance of continuing education in helping dental professionals enhance their techniques and their practices," stated SLC Director Michelle Sawicki, who is heading up the initiative, in a press release. "The Sybron Learning Center is the latest in our ongoing commitment to education that will ultimately help our customers better serve their patients."

The center was made possible by contributions of equipment from several of Sybron's sister companies. Furnishings for all operatories, including cabinetry, seating, lighting, monitor mounts, handpieces, water treatment, vacuums, a fully equipped sterilization lab, and compressors, were donated by Pelton & Crane. The Bench Lab includes custom-designed chairs and two wet labs donated by KaVo Dental. Furnishings for the x-ray room, including the i-CAT cone-beam CT scanner, orthopantomography system, intraoral cameras, intraoral x-ray machines, and sensor combo kits, were donated by Imaging Sciences, Instrumentarium Dental, and Gendex. Practice management and imaging software was donated by Dolphin Imaging & Management Solutions.
