CDA journal explores the future of dentistry

The August issue of the Journal of the California Dental Association explores the relationship between dentists and dental laboratories, offering predictions for the future as technology enhances and transforms the healthcare profession, the California Dental Association (CDA) announced.

"Articles in this month's publication examine key market changes that are currently impacting the day-to-day relationship between dentists and dental laboratories and technicians," said Editor-in-Chief Kerry Carney, DDS, in a press release. "The journal provides an opportunity to discuss a few aspects of these dynamics."

For example, "Dentist-Technician Collaboration in the Digital Age, Enhancing Outcomes Through Photography, Teamwork and Technology" touches on the importance of communication to establish a strong and successful dentist-technician relationship and how forthcoming technologies will allow dentist-technician teams to reach greater levels of collaboration.

This month's publication also features an article that provides an overview on mucogingival surgical procedures from its inception to the current time.
