Dental distributor Benco Dental, the United Negro College Fund, and the Dental Trade Alliance have created an endowment to address the lack of underrepresented individuals in dental education.
With every enrollment and reenrollment in its Benco Select rewards program in 2022, the distributor will donate a portion of the fees to the Dr. Robert Tanner Freeman Endowment. The scholarship, which is named after the first African American in the U.S. to receive a dentistry degree from an academic institution, aims to help end the underrepresentation of Black, Native, Indigenous, and Latinx in dental education.
