FTC: Maine dental board trying to restrict IPDHs

The Maine Board of Dental Examiners is balking at a new law that allows independent practice dental hygienists (IPDHs) to take x-rays without the presence of a dentist as part of an expanded scope-of-practice pilot project. But the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says the board is trying to be too restrictive.
